DIY Leadership Camp Onboarding
Through a strategic partnership between unCommon Construction and the Devoted Dreamers Foundation, rising 9th and 10th graders across New Orleans will come together to learn basic construction and tool skills as part of their leadership development journey and experience moments of goal setting, reflection, and celebration of their growth.
This two day intensive will take place from 8:30-3:30 on 7/20/26 and 7/21/26 and there will me a mandatory onboarding that a parent or guardian must attend on 7/16 from 5:30-7 and a celebration on 7/24 from 5:30-6:30. Please only apply if you can attend all sessions.
Transportation and meals will be provided.

NCCER Core is the foundational, industry-recognized curriculum required before advancing to any NCCER Level 1 craft specialization. It covers essential skills, including basic safety, construction math, hand/power tools, construction drawings, rigging, communication, and employability skills. Completion provides digital badges and prepares individuals for entry-level construction jobs.

uCC’s Opportunity Fair is an opportunity for youth and partners to network and connect. Whether you have immediate job opportunities or not, your participation is critical to helping our youth gain valuable exposure to the jobs and careers that await after graduation. While there is no expectation that apprentices will be hired on the spot, our aim is to use this opportunity to find a good match for our youth and partners.

Join uCC New Orleans apprentices for a day of hands-on learning and building at our Community Build Day! Learn skills from and alongside unCommon’s high school apprentices. Lunch will be provided.
